Middle Schooling

Middle Schooling:

This is the time when students become disengaged with learning. It is also when students enter puberty which result in a change in their perception of the world around them. Students also start to get more freedom in their choices at home and socially and with the current technology are exposed to issues and events on a global scale.

Why do you think Queensland needs to reform the Middle Years of Schooling?

I think it is important that Queensland schools recognise that this can be a very confusing time for many students. For this reason specific strategies should be used to engage students and to encourage further learning through the use of real life scenarios.

Aspects of Middle Schooling I have seen so far.

The classrooms I have been in mostly encourage student's participation through the use of collaborative work which ensure that the majority of students are engaged in the classroom.
